Ever since I was young, I always knew I wanted to spend my life helping animals. I graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2018, and have been working in the Ottawa-region since graduation. After doing in-clinic euthanasia for 5 years, I was able to experience first-hand the amazing difference that at-home euthanasia provides for families. A family saying goodbye to their beloved pet should never be rushed, and the experience should be as comfortable and peaceful as possible for the pet. With Ad Astra Veterinary Services, it is my goal to provide tailored end-of-life care for companion animals, to minimize the stress to both the pet and the family members. Saying goodbye is hard enough- let us help you make the experience more comfortable, with our fear-free approach with your pets comfort as our number one priority.

Dr. Spina is CAETA (Companion Animal Euthanasia Training Academy) Certified, and has done numerous hours of extensive training on Companion Animal Euthanasia.

Who We Are

Where Pets Come First

Ad Astra Veterinary Services is new to the Ottawa area; we strive to provide a compassionate option for peaceful end of life care for companion animals.

We offer a customized end-of-life service-- where we can tailor the experience to your family and pets needs.

Ad Astra was born from Dr. Spina's experiences in both in-clinic euthanasias and at-home euthanasias. She noticed a drastic difference in the comfort of the pets and family when they were allowed to grieve in the comfort of their homes, and knew that this was a service that was not widely available and was desperately needed in the Ottawa region.

"Dr. Spina- I wanted to express my thanks for your extreme kindness yesterday. I had cried all the way to the door of the hospital thinking my dog was much sicker than she actually was. Your upbeat calm demeanour took away my fears and my husband and I left feeling so much lighter. You have a very special gift of "bedside manner" and we wish you the very best always in your work. Thank you
